  update - for those of you who read my last topic 'disfellowshipped at 18' i am so thankful for all the support and helpful comments i received.

  it's amazing to know that despite how alone i may feel, so many of you have suffered the same way that i have.

  i know that i can live happily without being one of jehovah's witnesses.

  Wow. You're so much braver and more coherent and together and courageous than I was at your age, probably more than I am even now..!

  Well done for making your mind up at such a young age, the rest of your life is ahead of you now, and its yours to do with as you please. It took me forty years to realise this. Good for you!

  i don't know of any but would like some references if anyone does.

  of course not all atheists or irreligious people need to belong to an organization.. studies on the demographics of atheism have concluded that self-identified atheists comprise anywhere from 2% to 8% of the world's population, whereas irreligious individuals represent a further 10% to 20%.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/demographics_of_atheism.

  I didn't realise there were so many!

  So I suppose the OP means outrightly secular AND atheist, as opposed to just secular organisations that might not be affiliated with any particular religion , like the police force or a branch of government that looks after care homes etc..

  you can probably guess how this story goes.. i began dating a non-witness boy.

  he knew i was a baptised witness and understood the consequences i faced for dating him.

  we agreed to keep our relationship secret, which was easy considering our 200 mile distance.

  I've not been there you are yet, but it's a real possibility in the future.. I'm sure our welcome messages will help towards overcoming the goodbye messages. Do research, (jw facts is a perfect place to start) then sit back and realise you guys have got your entire life in front of you, at least you didn't waste 40 years . take care matey..

  so i went out today with my broken leg and got accosted by an old lady, with some magazines.. it was my first ever encounter with a jw in ten years, and i had said 'i know you are jw's, i'm not interested thank you.

  " twice.....then she started talking about my broken leg and how wonderful we are made and how amazing the healing process is.... and that's when it all started...."i used to be a bethelite pioneer, now i'm an atheist doctor...".

  she was with me a good 30 mins, her elder husband left very annoyed but she stayed, and she was dying to hear everything i spurted out, despite aggressively defending every point, from military engines to paedophilia.

  Fun at The WT This Morning

  so ofs was at the wt this morning, and on par.

  14 the question was, "what trust can a faithful christian whose relative is disfellowshipped have?".

  after awhile when no one else raised their hands ofs did, and was called on.. ofs commented, "one of jw can have the trust that god will lovingly give them the ability to uphold the disfellowshipping arrangement by totally shunning family members.".
